Black Christmas figures
After a first weekend, Black Christmas has scored $3.7 mil and has reached over $11 mil. up till now. The previous version was directed by Bob Clark, starring Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea and Margot Kidder, and the new one is directed by Glen Morgan, starring Michelle Trachtenberg, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Katie Cassidy, Oliver Hudson and Andrea Martin.
Black Christmas remake
This Christmas, on the December 25, a new version of the classic 1974 horror Black Christmas should be released in theatres. The story is about the killer who grew up in the basement and after revenge on his parents who kept him there threatens the new owners of his house...


The Hitcher remake
As we announced previously, the remake of the 1986 thriller The Hitcher is in post-production phase and the premiere should be held in late January 2007. The story is about the psychopath hitchhiker played by Rutger Hauer in the original version and Sean Bean in the new one. The movie is directed by Dave Meyers and the rest of the cast are Sophia Bush, Zachary Knighton and Neal McDonough.
Sisters remake
After the premieres on the festivals in Canada and Spain, the new version of Brian De Palma's 1973 thriller / horror movie 'Sisters' is not very appreciated by the critics, although it's "evenly paced, mostly well-acted and semi engaging sit down" according to JoBlo.com. The 2006 version was directed by Douglas Buck, starring Stephen Rea and Chloe Sevigny....


Upcoming movies remakes
Here is the short resume of the upcoming movies in 2007 that are the new versions of previous hits; seems like the Scandinavian cinema is the top inspiration this year:
Pathfinder (Marcus Nispel), a saga about Viking boy who grows up in Native American tribe, a remake of the 1987 Norway movie Ofelas by Nils Gaup.
The Invisible (David S. Goyer) is a remake of the 2002 Swedish SF thriller named Den Osynlige about the teenager's ghost who seeks revenge...
Some other upcoming movie remakes in 2006 and 2007 are:
- The Bad Seed, a horror remake of the Mervin LeRoy 1956 version
- Back to School, a movie remake of a 1986 comedy, still in production
There's a rumor about new version of cult Walter Hill's action film The Warriors from 1979 not confirmed yet...
Jessica Alba in the remake of "The Eye"
The remake of the Hong Kong film Gin Gwai (2002) is about to be remade as The Eye starring Jessica Alba and Goran Visnjic (ER doctor Luka Kovac) directed by David Moreau and Xavier Palud. It's a horror movie remake about a girl who got eye transplantation after which she sees the ghosts...

Seven Samurai - another remake?
The new Hollywood remake rumor is about possible production of the new version of the classic Seven Samurai. The Martial arts director and actor Donnie Yen has met with the producer Harvey Weinstein to discuss the issue. If the project gets the green light, George Clooney and Zhang Ziyi could be starring in the movie along with Donnie Yen. Check out the previous versions here...

The Departed!
After a long time, we can finally see another "better than original"! Although the original was not bad at all, the Scorsese remake has outranked the 2002 Hong Kong version. The critics love it, the box-office cashes a big bucks on it; until now it has scored over $170 mil worldwide... What else to say but go and check out The Departed!
Post-Halloween pick: Good ol' Dracula
