Movie remakes are one thing but what about CRIME movie remakes? It’s our favorite genre and one that lends itself well to remaking and remastering films here are a few of our all time favorite crime movie remakes to keep an eye out for on your http://www.cable.tv/ channels:
Oceans Eleven: It wasn’t until Brad Pitt and George Clooney made it a household name that Oceans became big doings. It was originally a 60s caper classic with all the same charm if not less star power.
The Manchurian Candidate: bet you didn’t know this one was a remake! It was originally released in 1964 and redone for 2004 but it was a bit flashier and more violent this time around, that’s for sure. It didn’t stay well at box offices in the 2000s.
The Pink Panther: More of a crime-comedy than a straight up crime, this one came out again a few years back starring Steve Martin, of all people. It’s great for kids and adults alike but we have to admit the newer version is definitely a bit cheesier than we’d prefer.
The ‘tried and true’ theory seems to really appeal to Hollywood. So many movies have been remade and several more are currently in the works. The Birds, the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, that originally starred Tippy Hedren is now being remade with, Naomi Watts in the lead role. Jason Momoa will star in the new ‘Conan’. ‘Death Wish’ which originally starred Charles Bronson, is currently being filmed. Chace Crawford will star in the new ‘Footloose’. Later this year a new ‘Pet Semetary’ will be released. A new ‘Police Academy’ is in the works. A new ‘Porky’s’ is Continue reading

Why would they not? The new generation grew up watching the movies their parents and older family members loved to watch and that has inspired a desire for the remade versions of these classic films.

Hollywood seems to be devoid of originality and creativity when it comes to filmmaking these days. For every new and original movie that opens at the mega-plex each weekend, a remake is waiting in the wings. While some movie remakes offer a chance for a whole new generation of moviegoers to experience a classic film, other remakes are nothing more than flimsy attempts for the studios to cash in and line their pockets with box office gold.
Every horror movie made Continue reading
